Stock movement solution problem our customer needed solving?

A local supermarket approached us with an issue about moving stock from their food preparation area out onto the retail floor.

Problems moving stock around the store.

Our customer had many different size containers and bins they were using to transport product and were looking for a solution to fit as many as possible.

The solution had to be easily moved and able to cope with varied environmental conditions.

How did we help this local supermarket store?

We discussed a number of things with our customer such as, environment, bin/container type and distance products needed to be moved.

After speaking with our customer we were able to determine what type of Skate or Dollie would be the best fit.

It was identified that the Skate needed to be able to withstand a wet environment as well as handling fairly heavy loads.

At times the Skate would have upwards of 100kg of stock loaded onto it and then needed to be easily moved to another location.

The option of using a Skate handle was also offered to minimise the effort in moving the Skate around.

What was the Product Display Solutions outcome?

Our customer was able to use the Skate for many purposes and as it had Stainless Steel castors it was fine in a wet environment.

This was key for our customer as they wanted to be able to re-purpose it when needed.

Due to the design of the Skates base area our customer could use it to transport many different size bins and containers.

The Skate handle was found to be a useful add on as it allowed staff to “pull” the load as opposed to pushing it.

This meant they were able to see where they were going as opposed to pushing the load and having to look around it.

Chilled food storage problem the customer needed solving?

One of our supermarket customers approached us as they were looking for a chilled food storage option.

Specifically they needed to keep chilled food off the floor at a minimum height.

How did we help this local supermarket store?

We did have a product widely used in the industry currently but this didn’t fit their needs exactly.

Our product manager contacted a range of our suppliers to see what options they had available.

We came across Dunnage racks from one of our suppliers and they fitted the bill perfectly.

The Dunnage racks can hold up to 600 kg’s of weight, are 300 mm off the ground and come in four sizes.

These two features were key for our customer along with the ability to easily clean the racks.

Made from hard wearing HDPE these racks are designed to be long lasting and weather the demanding conditions.

What was the Product Display Solutions outcome?

Our customer reported back that the Dunnage racks performed exactly as required.

The ability to mix and match sizes was also helpful as they had some tight spaces to work with.

They kept the food off the ground at the required height and were easily moved around with a fork lift or pallet truck.

Also the ease of cleaning them due to being HDPE was a bonus as this needed to be done regularly.

Here at Mills Display we have a brand new range which will improve the display of various products you have in store.

This new range is called SpaceGrid and will help you display products such as Salad Bags, Frozen meals and Soups.

SpaceGrid can be used in various locations throughout a store such as in Fresh Foods, Frozens and Confectionery to name a few.

How did we help this local supermarket store?

One of the key advantages of using the SpaceGrid product is that it helps keep products “faced up” on the shelf.

This means you save on staff wages as they aren’t continually tidying up the shelves and it ensures stock rotation.

The stock is kept rotated due to the fact it is a “first in first out” system.

The SpaceGrid Pushers are very easy to use and feature a slide out function to make it easy to merchandise.

They have a clear Polycarbonate face plate to ensure your stock doesn’t get pushed off the shelf!

This also allows your customer to easily identify which product they are purchasing.

The SpaceGrid system is designed with built in air flow management to ensure the product is kept chilled no matter where it is on the tray.

What was the Product Display Solutions outcome?

SpaceGrid is very easy to install and will fit most common refrigeration units in NZ.

All parts and accessories are supplied with the system and can be self installed.

The Grid slots into the uprights at the back of the refrigeration/freezer unit with the help of stainless steel clips.

The Pushers clip into the Grid and can be moved around to suit the product and space you have.

The SpaceGrid trays and Grids are made of very durable, rust resistant materials.

What was the problem the customer needed solving?

Recently one of our supermarket customers approached us to help with an off shelf display

issue.
This Supermarket has a display issue with their Natural Bread Wraps products.
They stock a range of Natural Bread Wrap products and were having problems displaying them on their shelving.
The product would not sit upright well and as such their customers could not see which flavours of the product were available.

How did we help this local supermarket store?

We presented a product to improve the presentation of the Wraps.

After speaking with our customer I went away to look at what options we had to help them.
The best option we came up with was our Pie/Wrap/Pita Bread stand which could be use with multiple products.

This product would fit well on the shelf space they had and could be used for a variety of products. I sent images and dimensions of the stand to our customer and they thought  looked like a viable option to trial.

What was the outcome of the shelf product presentation trial?

We sent out some stands for our customer to trial and asses their feedback. This Supermarket

customer tried them with some of their Natural Wrap products and Pita Breads.

Our customer was pleased with the improved display of the products and how easy they were

to use and implement.

They presented very well and the feedback from their customers was that they found it easier

to shop the Wraps and Pita Breads and find the flavour/variety they wanted.

Our customer has since ordered more stands and are using them widely in those categories.

What was the problem the customer needed solving?

Our customer had trouble attaching information to motor vehicles on their sales yard.

A motor vehicle dealer approached us with an issue around presenting information on the cars in their sales yard. They wanted to attach an info sheet to a vehicle but didn’t want to use any adhesive. As they were attaching information to a large number of vehicles the solution had to be easy to use and present well.

How did we help this local motor vehicle dealer…

We established the reason behind this was that they didn’t want any adhesive touching the the area they were attaching the info sheet to. After looking through our range of products we came up with a solution that would avoid the adhesive issue.

The product we though would work best is called a POP Clip which has a large clip on the bottom to attach to almost anything with a small enough edge. The top of the POP Clip has a smaller clip to hold printed material or a label. There was a fair amount of urgency around this as they had a promotion coming up and we delivered the stock within 2 days.

What was the outcome for the motor vehicle display signs…

They were pleased with the product as it allowed them to attach the printed material to the vehicle without using any adhesive. This meant there was no extra cleaning required and no damaged surface caused by an adhesive. A by-product of this trial was that the customer could move the information around a lot more easily as the Clip is quite versatile.

One of our Hardware customers contacted us with a problem around theft of their Power tools.

How did we help this local retail hardware store…

We discussed with our customer what the issue was and provided one of our many security products to help. This particular product is attached to a surface with a strong adhesive tape and then the cable is locked around the product.

These are easily installed and are very simple to use, especially suitable for items that have a wrist strap. If the alarm is triggered by mistake there is a remote that can be used to turn it off. Our customer said this sounded like a good option and they were willing to trial it.

What was the outcome to help stop Power tool Theft…

Our customer trailed the Recoiler on one of their Power tools and it worked as an effective deterrent. As there was minimal install time they viewed it as an efficient way to secure the product without wasting staff time.

They particularly liked the option of having the remote to be able to turn the alarm off without having to walk all the way over to the product. Our customer is now going to continue the trial a little longer with a view to rolling the product out to all stores in the near future.
