Collapsible Crates

Collapsible Crates For Effortless Delivery And Storage

Collapsible crates are the solution for a range of delivery options

The pandemic has changed the way NZ businesses are operating. It’s expected the changes will last beyond the current crisis, as people expect delivery of household goods and higher standards of care from businesses.

To help you deliver your business goods easily, our collapsible crates are perfect. In a range of sizes, there’s one for every task.

Convenient and easy

Our crates are designed for optimal efficiency, with easy to hold handles so you can carry items easily. There is a space for labels, so you can store goods and easily access just what you need without having to unpack every crate. The collapsing mechanism is super simple, with no hooks or clips—just push the ends down and the sides automatically fold in flat.

Space efficient

These crates stack when full, which saves space when in transit or being used to store goods. This helps to reduce shipping costs, and also avoids product damage.

They collapse when empty, to save on storage space in a warehouse, in a kitchen, in the transit van- where-ever you use them.

Hard wearing and long-lasting

The plastic is made from food-grade polypropylene. This means these crates are safe for transporting of food and food products. The plastic itself is durable and hardwearing, able to deal with being stored outside in a yard. It also takes the knocks that happen during loading, unloading and transit.

These crates are better than timber crates in many ways. There are no nails, splinters or mould to worry about. They are lighter and therefore easier to carry and move and are compatible with forklifts and conveyor belts.

Keep your produce in immaculate condition

Finally, these crates keep your products safe. Whether it’s delicate fruit like strawberries or ripe avocadoes, crates ensure they aren’t damaged – unlike boxes, which can be dented, can collapse, or can get wet and disintegrate.

And when they get dirty, these crates are easy to clean; you can easily hose or wash them down. They can be treated with a number of different cleaning solutions, which help to keep your crates clean, compliant with health and safety laws, and keeps the quality of your produce high.

Our range of commercial grade collapsible crates

We have a range of sizes to suit almost any product and need. Our range of crates all easily stack with each other, regardless of size.

36L collapsible crate (600 x 400 x 200mm) is our smallest crate

40L collapsible crate (600 x 400 x 22mm)

Our 48L black crate (600 x 400 x 260mm) is our largest size. Perfect for bulky or lighter products.

What are collapsible crates used for?

These vented crates are used in a wide variety of industries and businesses. Fruit and vegetables are one common use, not only for transporting goods but also for storage and display when they are at the store or market. They are the perfect size and shape for almost every imaginable type of produce.

The dairy industry use vented crates because the plastic functions perfectly in fridges and freezers. Unlike timber, which swell and warp, the plastic retains its shape and form. The plastic can also be sanitised and washed easily, part of the strict food safety standards around dairy.

Bakeries use vented crates to ensure their goods don’t get squashed or damaged in transit. Also, because often breads etc are packed when still warm, the vents allow steam to be diffused and stop the product from getting soggy.

Commercial kitchen use vented crates for all the reasons above. To meet strict food safety standards, to allow fridge-freezer-transport with no warping or damage, and simply due to the ease of use.

Clip it, ticket it and pop it; the easiest food labelling options in NZ

From cafes to supermarkets, delis to bakeries, you need to label your food. There are plenty of ways to create attractive food displays, and Mills Display can help.

Whether it’s loaves of bread cooling on the rack, custard squares on a counter, or a row of salads behind glass in a deli, there needs to be labels. Your customers need to easily identify what they are looking for, see the origin and allergen information, and understand the pricing.

Because every type of display has different limitations, there are a huge range of food labelling options. And once you’ve printed the label, you need the best way to display it so it’s stable, secure, and easy to see. You could be losing sales without even knowing it—some people will simply walk off rather than asking for more information.

Table stands

For displaying food, these low table stands are perfect. They hold menu cards and price tickets in place without obscuring the food.

This 35mm D base style table stand is a popular option across NZ. Easy to clean, stable and perfect for café display cases or deli counters. Made from robust stainless steel, it can be put in the dishwasher to be cleaned as required.

This 80mm tall D base harp table stand helps your labels stand out from the crowd. Taller than the 30mm cousin, it’s better for use when there are rows of food containers that are staggered, and you need the extra height in the back rows. It can also be used to hold table numbers.

Stand 1

This ring-style stand is 50mm high, with a D style weighted base. Sturdy, easy to clean stainless steel, and low so the label doesn’t interfere with the food display. It can also be used to hold table numbers or display small DLE-sized menus on tables.

Stand 2

For pricing meat, cheese, baked goods and salads, these ticket pins are an economical and easy solution. These stainless steel 20mm ring cardholders have 25mm spikes which stick securely into food items. No knocking over stands or worrying about missing price tags.

Stand 3

If you need cardholders that clip onto a surface, these hinged ticket holders are ideal. Easy to clip onto horizontal and vertical surfaces, they will easily attach to trays, bowls and shelves. These are sturdy and keep your labels where they need to stay.

Stand 4

POP Clips

The range of P.O.P clips come in a range of colours, sizes, styles and adhesive methods. If you have a need to display labels or price tags, there is a POP clip that will work for your situation.

Mount your labels with clips that easily can be added or removed from shelves and containers easily. With no sticky foam or glue, you can remove and reattach in seconds. These are perfect for items that may occasionally move locations, or for free-standing bins. There are several sizes and types of clip-on label holders.

Magnetic-base clips are ideal for refrigerated containers, or anywhere with magnetic metal. Super easy to move around and remove as needed, these POP clips are the ultimate in versatility.

The double-ended 50mm clip has two clear plastic spring clips with a short 50mm rod. These clips attach to most bowls, trays and cardboard boxes. They are ideal for almost any retail situation, incredibly versatile and great to have in stock at all times.

For a more permanent solution, the POP Clip with an adhesive base is a good option. It uses foam tape to adhere strongly to almost any surface, including glass, metal and counter-tops. It’s adjustable to swivel in any direction.

For another easy-care solution, plastic stands have wide bases for added stability. They come in a range of sizes and the added height places the price tickets at an easily visible height so your customers have all the information they need to make a purchase. Ideal for bins of clothing.

Look professional and increase sales

Every retail outlet can take advantage of the versatile range of label clips. Butchers, hair dressers, delis and food counters, art galleries or restaurants can all use these.

Mills Display are NZ owned and operated. We’ve been around for years, and our staff have an in depth understanding of the industry. As a result, our selection of products is broad—we know that not one size fits all.

Why personalised price tags?

Aside from making your customer’s shopping experience far easier, there are four main reasons that personalised price tags are a must-do for any supermarket or food store.

You save time: You’re only printing your labels as and when you need them. There’s no need to wait for a minimum order quantity from your printer or wholesaler. There’s no lead time- minutes from design to printed.

Hygienic and durable: Printing on PVC plastic it’s highly durable. No paper to fall apart, the PVC is completely moisture and cold resistant. It’s easy to wipe clean if it drops in a salad or sauce.

Compliance with food regulations: There are a range of regulations around food labelling. Your customers need to be able to easily identify:

  • Allergens
  • Origins of products
  • For fish, detailing the method of fishing and latin name of the animal
  • Price and measurement unit
  • Religious guidelines; is this kosher, halal or does it contain beef?

A strong brand image: A coherent, consistent label across the store is professional and looks fantastic. The white ‘chalkboard’ finish on these black labels is smart, easy to read and clear. You can also print your logo or other distinguishing mark on the price tag.

The back side has everything your retail employees need- a barcode and internal reference details.

The dedicated software is simple to use and gives lots of functionality. You can import data from Excel and sort as you wish. You can edit the information on the tag and preview it before printing- no errors or wasted materials. Choose the font you prefer and add images from a library of over 350 relevant symbols and pictures.

Price card options to suit what you want

There are card holders available if needed, which can be stand-alone, magnetic, or on spikes. It depends on your needs.

The credit-card sized labels also make excellent name tags. If a new staff member arrives, you don’t have to send away for their name tag; print it then and there, letting them choose how their name is displayed.

Choose what works for you

There are three possible solutions: The entry-level ‘Access’, the adaptable ‘Flex’, and the advanced ‘Duplex’.

Access is the most affordable option. It offers the basic single-sided printing of credit-card sized labels. It connects to one computer, and can print up to 25 labels in a batch.

Flex offers more options, including product category management, auto-updates from Excel files, and the ability to print from two computers. It can print in long format as well as credit card, and can print up to 50 labels at a time.

Duplex option gives you the full suite of services- double-sided printing, silent mode printing, it can print from a network of five computers, and it has an easy-to-operate LCD touchscreen

Flexible aisle flag holders; disrupt your customers to gain sales

For effective advertising that stops customers in the aisles, flags are a fantastic option. To install them, widgets, supergrips and flexible aisle flag holders are the easiest solution. Because sometimes, you have to stick your neck out to get noticed.

There are a variety of in-store advertising techniques and products, but aisle flags are an excellent sales tool. These aisle violators are designed to extend out from gondola shelf edges or end displays, making sure your customer is looking exactly where you want them to.

Grab your customer’s attention

To really make sure you’re noticed, you need to jump out and grab your potential customer’s attention. In a world of highly- marketed products designed to capture the gaze, it’s not easy. Aisle flags are a product designed to stop customers in their tracks, literally.
While all the other products- with their clever labelling strategies- are all to the side of the customer as they move forward, a flag sticks out. It literally violates the aisle, interfering with the flow of the traffic- and the gaze.
It’s incredibly affective to draw attention to:
• Promote a new product
• Advertise a special or clearance
• Differentiate between varieties of items
• Provide navigation instructions on the aisle ends
• Give information of store policies or offer assistance
It can be seen from both sides, so it doesn’t matter which way people enter the aisle. This gives maximum viewing potential, and printers can provide double- sided, high resolution printing that looks professional from whichever way you look at it.

Flexible aisle flag holders come in a range of sizes

Designed to suit a range of sizes of paper, cardboard and corflute, there’s a solution for every flag need across your store.
There are four sizes of flag holders that Mills hold in stock. These can be shipped to you on the same day you order.

They are adhesive backed and are so simple to install that anyone can do it. These will hold signs vertically, horizontally, or upside-down. They use special gripper teeth that hold the sign perfectly in place with no slipping or dropping out. They are made from clear plastic so they don’t interfere or detract from the design of the poster. The plastic is flexible, so if they are bumped or moved, they don’t crack or break.

Increase impulse buys

Using these attractive and versatile flexible flag holders to increase those incremental sales. Your customer is already in the store, with a retail shelf edge flag, it’s easy to make sure they see what you want them to—maybe a sale item or something the business needs to sell quickly. These aisle violators have been shown to increase impulse purchases. If the flag highlights an expensive product, many people simply buy up without thinking.
This may be a small sign, but it can make a big difference in sales of the highlighted product. Used correctly, these can make an impact for any product in the store—on shelving units, in refrigerated display cabinets, and display ends. They don’t block the customer’s view of the product but direct their attention completely where you want it to be.

Mills Display are increasing their range to make your retail displays better

We want our customers to have the best. We’ve recently taken over from Lindstrom Foods so we can supply you scoop bins, gravity bins and SpaceGrid products

When Mills Display were given the opportunity to supply New Zealand with some of the premier retail products available, they jumped at the chance. .

Trade Fixtures and Lindstrom Foods

For 21 years, Lindstrom Foods has been supplying New Zealand businesses with products from Trade Fixtures. This has included gravity bins, scoop bins and the SpaceGrid system of refrigeration shelving. David Lindstrom, NZ rower in the 1972 and 1976 Olympics, took on a role in 2018 with Penn AC in the USA. This required a change in focus and David sold the Trade Fixtures arm of the business to Mills Display.

What does this mean for you?

It means that here at Mills Display, we can offer you more. We are the only NZ suppliers of the top quality gravity fed bulk bins, scoop bins, and the revolutionary SpaceGrid refrigeration organisational system.

As Kiwis increasingly demand better, more environmentally friendly options for their lives, the supply of bulk food becomes more popular. Bulk bins reduce food wastage by only buying what you need. As the technology and reliability of BYO container systems continues to get better, bulk bins will grow in popularity as people cut back on single-use plastic.

Gravity fed bulk bins

These wall-mounted units are great for supply of small, dry bulk supply items. Nuts, seeds, muesli, sweets and coffee beans are all perfect for gravity fed systems. These food supply containers come with sturdy pull handles that release the food below.

You can buy optional front covers which can be filled with the product so they always look full. The bins are easy to be washed in a dishwasher. Because they are wall-mounted, valuable floor space is left available.

These 8L or 13L bins are easy to refill from the top, which means the older product will always be sold first. No food waste, either with customers, or with you, the retailer.

Scoop bins for bulk food supply

These bins are ideal for hard-to-flow products such as soft or sticky sweets and dried fruit. It’s also ideal for flours, high volume natural foods like rice, beans and pasta.

The 12L, 17L, 18L, and 27L bins are sturdy and fed from the top, so the oldest product is always used first for good stock rotation. They display the product attractively and are easy to clean and are dishwasher safe. There are also a range of accessories to choose from including scoops and tongs.

Mills Display has all your need for visual merchandising

Consumers can be influenced by how the stock is laid out, the trolleys and baskets you give them to use, and a range of other techniques and products, Give us a call on 09 634 5962 and discuss how we can help your store become more customer-friendly, or pop into our showroom at 327A Neilson Street, Penrose to see a range of our products.
